Technologies introduces high power cryogenic cooling module
Amplitude
Technologies,
Evry, France, has increased to more than 100W the cooling power of their
Cryostar line of cryogenic coolers for high power Titanium Sapphire femtosecond amplifiers.
High average power pumping of Ti:Sapphire crystals in high peak power femtosecond amplifiers usually results in significant thermal distorsions, which decrease the beam quality and focusability. Operating the crystal at a very low temperature (typically 150K) improves the thermal conductivity and minimizes these distorsions.
The Cryostar line allows to operate the crystal at these low temperatures, under a high average pumping power, and without any consumables (no liquid nitrogen required). The newest model can handle pump power in excess of 100W.
